Yet Again something bad has to happen to my horse when we have little to no money. This time its worse than it has ever been before. My 4 year old Quarter Horse breedstock paint Chip and not to mention the love of my life has been bitten by a Rattle snake or a black widow. His whole face is swollen, His eyes are the size of golf balls and his nose is almost completly swollen shut. Three of his for legs are swollen which is weird because its only his white socks. SO we callled the vet and of course my vet is out of town along with three of the other major equine vets in the area. We ended up calling a vet that I have never heard of before. He got to my place at around 8 last night and gave me one of two options either A I could Hospitalize him in bakersfeild which would cost me a little over a thousand dollars which we dont have a the moment or B he treat him the "Field" as he said and their would be a chance that he could treat him wrong and he could die. Well I stayed with him all night getting little over an hour of sleep. Thank goodness he is still alive and the selling is slowly dicreasing out of his nasel passage way. I have a feeling its going to be a very long and bumpy recovery. I just hope that I dont loose him I would die along with him.
